It’s kinda both sides of the coin for me. The LDP days felt like I marketed grain the best. Maybe just smaller trading ranges, that you didn’t feel like you left a lot of money on the table. Maybe…a blind pig finds an acorn every once in awhile…. Also, that was the timeframe, here, for me, that I referenced buying land that the annual payment, wasn’t much more than what rent for a year would be. But also, it felt like we were borrowed to the gills. Seemed like NO extra cash beyond paying bills and obligations. And always worried about a crop failure….as in “would it knock me out of farming”

Now….while still debt around. I feel it’s manageable, for me. Also feel like I have a cushion for unexpected problems. Don’t get me wrong….I’m occasionally surprised by a repair bill, shake my head at seed and fertilizer, I just look at prices of new equipment, then start looking at used of what I have in mind to try to find something that I can live with. Also going over crop budget and think “I’m risking this much capital for that small of a return and that much work” ?

Still more return than sitting on a couch….
