East Arkansas
No doubt, all the legends farming 200 acres with a job.

I’m not sure most people are crying but if you can’t see that the economics of row crop agriculture are completely sideways then your not paying attention.

Guys not carrying over a loss this year are able to do that simply by being able to run old equipment. Sure, land prices are increasing but you can’t pay for land farming it. Local labor is non existent “here”….don’t need a speech about do it yourself, irrigation is impossible without a crew of some sort. The markets are broken, tariffs, unfair trade, etc.

In the 80’s and 90’s in this area everyone made money on every acre if they had even a decent crop…better ground or improvement and you made more money. Hard work and investment was rewarded.

I’m as wealthy on paper as I’ve ever been but also more doubtful about having a son continue this business as I’ve ever been.

Sorry for rant, we are losing too many good farmers and if this keeps up we will lose necessary infrastructure then who knows what will happen.
