Tablerock Ranch eastern Wa | First year we are scrambling to find bulls for fall calving turnout, got creamed on Bull breading evaluations this year, with screwed up peckers Bulls absorbing nuts over the off season and bad semen checks. Used to be we would just AI more and or pick up the phone and private treaty a dozen bulls per call... now call after call finds no off-season inventory, can't blame anyone for not keeping two year-olds around with cull prices so high, can't imagine any other reason, in the past all the breeders would have lots of bulls that they kept after their spring sale that came up lame or needed a better semen check later on, these were top shelf bulls that needed another chance to pass eval, but no one kept those bulls this year? You breeders, am I on the right track or has there been a run on Bulls for off season breeding? has the build back begun?.... this cowman doesn't see expansion, but I don't get out much... What say you? |
