Subject: tankless water heater

Earlville, NY
We have a 40 head calf barn, pole barn with individual pens. We have a 30 gallon water heater in it's utility room, it's getting pretty old. When we replace it we may go with a 4 gallon/minute tank-less heater. I know how they work etc but I've never had one; my main concern is a reliable brand and maintenance. It would be electric, we have local electric at calf barn and is relatively cheap. The costs seem to be about the same as a traditional water heater. Do they need occasional flushing for mineral deposits? We have moderately hard water. I know a big box store has good prices, but probably lower quality, like their power tools etc. Any ideas or opinions would be appreciated, thanks.
