| Some on here probably see "The Beef Read " everyday. Her prediction is that with all the plant cut backs, 2026 won't be like 2025's record prices. Is $5000 too much for a young bred cow? No. IF she gives you 7-8 more calves (which statistically is very unlikely), IF we continue to see record or near record prices, IF you don't see major persistent drought (we in CO are predicted to hit 70 degrees tomorrow), and IF the packers don't find a way to destroy cattle markets (they took $400-$500 of in a short time despite record small cow numbers).
You have to be an optimist to raise cattle, no doubt. But I'd much rather be on the side of selling $5000 cows than buying them. | |
