Interesting you mention sawdust in rice crispies. I used to know a guy that work at a place that made cellulose. They ground old broken pallets into dust. The end users are food processors. So when you see cellulose as an ingredient on something your eating, it's actually sawdust.

YouTube woodworkers had a period of time when making pallet wood furniture and kitchen utensils was all the rage. Then there was a lot of push back on the chemicals put on pallets to resist the insects transported internationally.
