Pull the drive pin on your hammers and forget about it.

I almost went nuts trying to crack corn with my grinder-mixer. Slow speed with a variety of screens, no screen, never happy with the results. Cracked corn from the coop was no better. I don't know for sure, but I believe the coop used a roller mill or a cracker, may be 2 names for the same equipment.

Whole shelled corn and pellets now, no issues.

The other part of the puzzle for me was finding a high quality pellet. Vita-Plus Sirloin Builder has been consistently excellent. It may have more to do with the manufacturer of the pellets than the brand.
