Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | If one side worked and the other did not I would suspect a problem within the box such as one of the switches or a problem with one of the clutches. It seems unlikely that both switches or both clutches would fail. Therefore I would suspect a problem with power coming into the box or more likely ground at the hitch point.
Since the clutches take a fair amount of power to disengage, a weak power source or weak ground would be my guess. I have had to replace the 7 pin connector on my planter because the ground pin had become distorted.
