Subject: Greenstar & Power & CAN harness install on JD 8200

Working on putting a Greenstar & Power & CAN harness on a JD 8200 (kit BPF12233). Tractor is not Greenstar ready. Several questions...

Been using several Ag Express harnesses the past few years to run a 2630, ATU 300, Starfire 3000, ISO connector for a planter with a rate controller for section control (AE30993, AE3073, AE3073RX). Installing the JD kit to integrate better with the chassis and tidy up some of harness spread throughout the cab.

The cab harness (PF80802) installed OK but I noticed there's no connection for the ATU... I believe this is the difference between Greenstar ready and Autotrac ready, so another harness is needed. Can I simply reuse the Ag Express AE30993 harness (looks to have the correct plugs for CAN and power, seat switches, etc.) or would I be better to buy a JD harness? I believe it kit BPF12136 is what I would need. Both of these have an ATU300 specific connector, we also have an ATU200 in the combine, can an adapter harness be used to adapt back to an ATU200 if we need to for some reason? I've seen adapter cables for ATU200 to ATU300 (BPF11855) but not the other way around.

On the power & CAN harness (PFA10407), does anyone that's installed this harness have a good way to run the harness up to the batteries? It has a long pigtail with battery lugs but also has a set of fuses and relays spaced out on it. The install instructions simply say to route it out of the way of moving components and mount the relays above the batteries. Tractor is set up for 30 inch rows so working between the inner tire and fender is tight, and the space between the top of the fuel tank and bottom of cab to route wires is pretty tight (as in I haven't been able to get the relays to pass through the gap). The best I can see is to maybe zip tie the harness to some metal lines behind the wheel, and then possibly remove the wires from the fuse and relay connectors to shrink them down so they can pass through easier.

I have this harness already connected under the right side console and the ISO connector mounted, that part was easy enough.

Instructions for the kit install are PFP13380 on the JD tech publications site. It's generic for 8000/9000 series tractors.

Some digging around online found one video talking about the kit, but they only really show the part about taking the cab roof off to run the harness for the globe. He does show the power & CAN harness laid out on the ground early in the video to give you an idea of how much wiring there is.

Trying to determine harness uses and part numbers on JD's site is not fun. Lots of generic pictures and descriptions. I haven't talked to the local JD AMS person after buying the kit, just working on the install over the winter.
