As far as the GO 16, it's been growing on me and the firmware updates over the last year have brought in a lot of features originally missing. At first I didn't care for the white backgrounds, seemed kind of harsh, for the various information boxes, but kind of liking now. There are several nice things they've done, like always display the A-B line currently being used. Also the guidance/map shifts to keep it from being covered up by the boxes on the side. In the 1200, when split screen, the guidance area tends to get covered up by the information boxes. In theory, they could make some changes to the 1200 firmware for some of the similar things on the GO 16, but I won't hold my breath. The wider screen on the GO16 is nice, lets plenty of information be on the sides and plenty of room for the map/guidance in the middle.

It was a bit of a shock switching back to my 1200 after using the GO16 for planting, spraying, and harvest this season. I moved the 1200 into my 4WD, so only use for tillage but it will work as a backup for everything else at this time.

As far as "new" things, that would be RightPath for implement guidance. That only works with the GOs (maybe only 16, not sure). I don't think I would upgrade to just upgrade (I think Ag Leader has a trade in program for the 1200 to GO 16), but if you had a good reason to move the 1200 into a different vehicle and have the GO16 in another, probably will like it. That is how I ended up with my GO 16, wanted to have at least 2 monitors and took advantage of a 3rd party trade-in deal for the GO16, steady steer, and 7500GPS w/ RTK.

As tedbear mentions, anyone who relies on the application rate module will need to stay with the 1200 as the GO16 doesn't support. Which seems odd. Nothing I have uses or needs the application rate module, so wasn't a concern of mine. However, I did just pick up a used one to install with the 4WD with the Incommand 1200 to connect implement switches on tillage equipment.
