North Dakota | Yes. First was below but seeing +$1.00 off of harvest low was an impetus to set a floor and work from there. Division is due to not only raising soybeans as an oilseed in the rotation. Usually raise canola as well. So don’t have as much crop to divide up. I have more spring wheat in rotation as a cereal so usually have that divided up into 10 lots or so to sell. Also I own some land and rent some land on crop share so divide it up and spread out sales as well.
It is perhaps a rather convoluted way to market. Set targets depending upon all the factors involved with each crop and try to stay disciplined on selling in marketing windows to achieve those targets. Just curious how others do it. Trying to learn new ways to approach the changes and challenges that are occurring and always inherent in agriculture. Just because what I am doing seems to work doesn’t mean it can’t be tweaked or completely changed. | |
