If one plans on strip tilling to use the banded fertilizer (presuming P & K) for the starter effect, but one chooses to VRT the banded fertilizer, he may have 300# of K or P in some spots, and 0# of K or P half-way down the field. At least that's how my VRT broadcast works

So, what happens to the starter effect when a "0" rate is applied, or when large fluctuations of rates occur within a relatively small area? I'm just trying to grasp how VRT will work in strips vs broadcast as I have been doing for years.

I have always referred to a fixed rate over an entire field as "blanket spreading". Apparently U of MN doesn't?
