Central NY
We first fought extreme white mold 12 or so years ago. It’s almost irrelevant to yield now with proper fungicide applications.
Row spacing hasn’t made a difference for us here. Variety makes some of a difference, some can be hurt more than others. Biggest key is using a good fungicide, and secondarily fungicide timing. We have used Miravis neo for 5 plus years now. I know other products work as well.
We do two passes most years unless it’s a drought, and then one pass at proper timing can work. Reproductive stage is important, but also knowing when you’re most prone to infection in your area is also key. We plan 0.7-2.3 beans and will have yield impact of up to 70 bushels on our sandy soils if we don’t spray for white mold.
For early planted beans with good early growth, I want full coverage from July 10/15-august 20/25th. If it’s a July drought I want one pass applied around July 20/25th-august 1. We will see flowering from June 20-late August most years.
