Idaho

First year we had the new to us 1470 combine Dad went to start it and it would not crank. I tried it a couple of time and could not get it to go either so went back to the engine compartment to jump it. IH uses a relay to energize the starter so I jumped across that. I was up on the deck and out of harms way which was a good thing. Started right up when I jumped the relay and the machine started running too. Turns out he had been cleaning in the cab and had turned the seperator switch on. Very lucky that the transmission was in neutral so at least the machine did not take off moving. Things happen very quickly.

Working on a 1086 for a neighbor. He just bought the tractor and is a JD guy so he wanted me to go through it. When I got the hoods off first thing I noticed is the clutch switch has been wired around. Have not been under the deck yet to see if the other switch is bypassed also. Looking at some of the other things that have been farmer repaired I will not be surprised if it has. Somethings are better left as it came out of the factory.
