My neighbor in the usual hurry yesterday nearly bought the farm with the screwdriver bypass. They have an old 4240 that has been there decades so they recently re-engined and is a rather strong starter.Gets on a click, darn battery, gets off gets new battery, installs, gets on clicks, darn solenoid, gets out the screwdriver, crosses contacts.Instant starts at 3/4 throttle in gear! The duals were off laying in front or this story wouldnt be told.Tractor pushed him into a hay conveyor as it jumped the tires rims on floor, went across machine shed, thru the gable end wall(made its own door)and collided with a silage truck ,where it spun a hole till it stalled out.I talked to him 10 hours later and he was still extremely shaken and said he did the worst move ever..I had a video of the aftermath ,the gable wall folded up and closed back down like a trap door.I know mostly all have done it but damn close for him.

So neutral start switch was also bypassed if starter was clicking in the first place. Probly get that looked at also.
