Had this same problem last fall and finally gave up trying to figure it out and finished harvest with a 25’ Harvestmore platform and feeder would always engage like it should. So, this summer we took the row head and made sure all rotating discs and gathering chains were all set to specs and could even turn one half of the head by hand when it was on the header trailer in shop. This is a converted 1083. Put head on combine in the yard and everything engaged like it should. Went out today to test cut some milo and engaged right away. Ran for 20 minutes and then shut head off to check around machine and some settings. Tried to re-engage and feeder alarm came on. Had to shut AFC in post to get it to work. We have put on a new feeder drive belt and checked all tensions. Replaced the solenoid located under the engine deck too. Have not changed the feeder sensor thinking it works with platform but maybe it is getting weak enough Even changed out alternator thinking it was a voltage issue. Seat switch would likely not be the culprit as it works fine with platform. What is odd is that it happens after everything is warmed up. Hope I can solve it while I wait for Milo to dry down. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
