EC IA | Just kidding, I don't have any... but considering some machinery changes and thought it might be interesting to see what others think. Current situation:
- 900ac corn/soybeans, 40% flat-ish, 60% D/E/F slopes
- Nothing custom hired except applying P&K and corn fungicide
- Full time work off-farm, so can't dedicate a significant amount of extra time unless it replaces the job
- N&S split between a preplant application with coulter bar and 2x2x0 with planter
- 24r20" planter, old and should probably be replaced, but has hyd. df, electric drive, etc.
- Bar we apply N&S with pre-plant is also worn out
- Have bins for almost all of current production
- Areas that need tile have it
Considering:
- Planter update, but not set on current width or row spacing.
- Strip till or other P/K/N/S application method, but not currently set up for handling dry fertilizer. Would only be able to do ~350ac strips due to hills, would have to put on top for the rest to prevent erosion in the strips. Could also band subsurface but wouldn't be able to guarantee planting over strip
- Spray drone (wasn't happy with consistency of application this year)
- Don't change anything, pay down debt and fix planter to get by another year
- Other things I'm not thinking of?
