Subject: CaseIH 5400 no till wheat, doing a terrible job

We have a CaseIH 5400 Muclhtill drill with a yetter colter cart.

We typically plant 75 to 100 acres of wheat each year into soybean stubble. Some years the yields have been pretty good, but nothing great.

After planting, the stand is very inconsistent. I compare it to neighbors that plant in the same conditions and the same time, who have a very nice, even stand after a couple of weeks.

We have replaced on the colters on the Yetter cart, and are planting at about 1 1/2" inches (according to the settings.

Its a 15 ft drill, and over one pass, there may be 2 or 3 rows that come up just fine and then 5 or 6 where there's nothing. Then on another pass, every row comes up just fine.

I have been told by the people at Yetter to make sure the wheels of the cart are completely raised and that the drill is riding on its own weight.

In my comparisons, the better fields in my area where planted with a Deere 750, or newer models,........maybe they are just that much better of a drill??

Any feedback would be apprecieated.
