deep SW On. | Livestock packing plants have always been put in the same group as auctioneers. BUT I am not sure its a high profit business as lots of consolidation over the yrs. and lots of bankrupt plants. Jmho but if it was a $$ printing machine the money people would be investing in new plants. Plants are expensive and labour to staff kill lines/packing is hard to get at what is paid.
Beef/pork mkts. always have had crazy swings and its risky business as especially pork ,like soys, depends on export mkts. I am surprised how well Beef prices have been considering retail prices | |
