| Yea I just let em be and then try and save them if anything goes wrong. There still ok money as heiferettes if they don’t lay down for a week after a stuck calf. I usually let em get back in shape and sell em or eat em if they didn’t need meds. But I’ve always done it like that so I’m used to waiting on cashflow from heifers. I can see where it would be an issue if you owe money on the cow or your structured to get money at a certain time of the year.
For me it makes more sense to keep them during high prices since the steers pay the bills. It gets more painful when they are cheap and steers aren’t making as much profit.
