| I fed with just rounds for years, and it worked fine when we only had about a dozen pairs. Once we got closer to 30–40 head, waste started adding up and I was rolling out bales every other day. That’s when I finally went to a wagon. I’ll be honest, I dreaded being tied to it every day too, but it really cut down waste and let me stretch hay a lot further.
If you’re small, rounds will carry you a long way. When you start growing and notice you’re feeding bales faster than you’d like, that’s usually the point it makes sense to switch. | |
