NE Iowa | I only have 40 cows. I feed very little baled hay. Pasture for about 6.5 to 7 months. I have a 9' bag of corn silage and 9' bag of chopped rye for winter feed. Fields with rye get double cropped to soybeans. No feeder wagon but feed in concrete h-bunks. Have a very large bucket for the skid steer and bags are not far from where I feed. 3 buckets of rye and 1 bucket of corn silage to the cows per day. Half bucket of rye and full bucket of corn silage to the weaned calves. About March switch the calves to a self feeder. Need to start skid steer daily but no tractor. | |
