If this actually happens I’m somewhat optimistic. I’m not old enough to remember details of the dairy buyout in the eighties. That seemed like a government program that wasn’t terrible? My concern is if you take even a small percentage of heifers out of the feeder calf market right now prices are going to go even higher. I’m pretty sure that’s not a good thing.
I don't remember how many times they did the buy out, but more than once. Each time the butcher cow market went in the toilet. And pulled the fat market a bit too.
I see nothing of this heifer thing YET. But Dovers was talking the market up until 27 in this morning E story. There take, Brazil and Australia both at the same point in the cattle cycle we our. So the market is stable to up. So no massive amounts of cattle to be had. But since they are a mouth piece for the big 4, I don't trust them fully.
As always I want enough cattle to use my range raised feed. But that means my numbers are always changing the same as rain. |
