This stuff just doesn't invent itself in Washington without a bunch of lobbyists in there creating the idea and lobbying for it. Is this just our checkoff dollars coming back to us? All the heifers in backgrounding lots will become worth more and reduce slaughter numbers again, the resultant spike in beef prices will just rubber stamp all the imports from anywhere in the world they can stuff cuts and trimmings into shipping containers. Quality on the US cowherd will significantly drop off and long-term hurt our premium export business. This is nothing more than an indirect takeover of the beef industry as we know it so it can be restructured as a global supply business and implement the RFID tracking and everything else that has been difficult to implement. This will be the beginning of all kinds of future subsidies to control supply and carbon agendas about where and when a cow can graze. Better be reading the fine print on the paperwork very closely, I'm sure there will be some kind of methane agenda intertwined into signing for the payments.

This has all the same vibe as the ones arguing the MX border needs to be opened up because the roping steers were getting expensive for the rodeos. Priorities.
