I think about this often. It seems a person would have to have lots and lots cheap feed ingredients to give to cows through a TMR wagon. I don't see how it can be cheaper or more efficient than dry hay bales fed with little waste. The cows have their own grinders and mixers built-in and ours do very well on hay alone during a long and cold winter in NW MN. I will be reading this thread intently. I admit my bias, and I want to learn.
Saving 10 cents a day on cost of feed doesn’t add up to much on 30 cows but multiply it out on 500-1000 or more and it adds up quick.
I have no idea how many your feeding and it doesn’t matter to me. |
