Is it feasible or worth it? Yep. If you like the work and are willing to try. Don’t let anyone but yourself tell you otherwise.

Everyone has a different risk tolerance so I can’t answer the question as to whether to custom feed or not. We own some and custom feed some. A mix seems to work for us the past few years. If I was you I’d get it rented or bought, and buy the first 100 head to get some started, then see if someone else wants to place 300 with you. If not, buy a second 100 and run half capacity for a year and see what happens. Markets might change, but for sure there’s going to be some work to do on a 20 year idle yard before it can feed at rated capacity again. You might want an empty pen available for when you find out at an inconvenient time that the fence was holding the posts instead of the other way around.
