I'll start by saying Barntools has v good product & system, and exceptional customer service. I've got them in all my barns.

But I don't get the advantage of Bintalk, and I'd like to hear from others. I basically have two types of barns, "modern" with 2 14 ton bins for each side, usually holding 12 Ton, or "old" with a single small < 10 ton bin per auger/barn.

On the tandem bins, it's pretty easy. Worst case, 1200 in the room, (yes, I can dream) 7.4-7.5 ADFI, so 4.5 ton/day consumed. Bin empty, switch slides, I know I have 2.67 days of feed before empty. Not alternating bins leads to other feed issues. I also have to place the order ahead, so I can order it before the bin is totally empty, barring a wind storm, or massive death loss, the pigs will empty it. Every other calamity is covered.

On the small bins, I still know when it was filled, the tons, and daily usage, it's just more challenging, We have to be specific on delivery orders, to the time of day. Those barns have more feeder capacity inside, so that helps.

I have water meters with daily usage alarms enabled, so we know if it drops, IMHO, before the feed consumption would indicate it. Does the bin talk system track feed consumption that closely? I don't see how with significant feed storage inside, whereas water usage is to the minute. And how can it without inventory data?

So what's the benefit of the system? I'd sincerely like to hear from others, in case I am missing something.
