I finished yesterday. I don't remember the last time I finished in September. Usually we start about this time and finish mid October. No real rain for the last 2 months, but still got a decent crop.

Had some major breakdowns this year. Electromagnet clutch had a bearing failure that destroyed itself. Switched to the other chopper and had a hydraulic line crack. Could not find a new ferrule to fit this metric machine, so I had to re-use the old one. Then the drain plug came out of the blower gearbox and lost all the oil in the field. Didn't notice until I smelled smoke. Pinion shaft bearing failed due to lack of oil and had a small fire from the hot shrapnel. Pulled the electromagnetic clutch from that chopper and put it on the first one.

Parts are no longer available from NH, so I will have to do some searching. Found a clutch.... for $12k.... and a blower gearbox for $6k..... cheaper to find a whole machine for parts. Going to keep looking.
