
| The govt subsidy has certainly allowed crop insurance agents to make a lot of money. But is it "lining the pockets of insurance companies?" I mean, what it's supposed to do, is make up the difference between what the Insurance companies would charge for the risk, and what farmers can, ya know, afford. And since insurance barely makes sense at the subsidized rate, it would never make sense at the full rate. The entire point of subsidizing crop insurance, was to eliminate constant emergency programs. That seems to not be working. Farmers, of course, just priced in the now reduced risk, and still got/are getting into trouble. |
