My dad had somewhere over 9" of rain in July and I had somewhere around 7".

I had 4 tenths spread out in August.

Guess what, the July rains don't matter to bean yields in this part of MO. We don't hold that much subsoil moisture. As of today beans are dying on the clay. Whole fields by the end of the week. And I don't mean maturing, I mean dying. What they'll make is anyone's guess.

What is underneath your clay down there? Gravel? Sand? I don't know much about Missouri dirt. Still learning about my own but here, my clay will hold on to moisture the longest during dry periods. Nothing beats rain but if there was enough rain earlier to keep that subsoil moist, soys will just keep chasing that moisture down. Once again, that's here.
