| Went from NE Nebraska to Osceola, Iowa this weekend. My thoughts...... Best looking corn I saw was really as soon as I got in the vehicle to leave. We have rust but we do not have all brown corn like a lot of the fields I surveyed after we got an hour down the road. From then on it was probably at least 70% percent of the fields were either dead or near death. I had heard stories of every field being dead that way but it was not the case at least on my drive. There is no doubt in my mind that bushels have been lost over these last few weeks. Beans I really have no idea. I did notice there are tons of acres of beans that have laid over and not come back up. Anybody that's farmed for any amount of time knows that if they fall over too early there is a big yield hit. I have no idea when this occurred. Did not look like a record to me in Iowa. | |
