| I wouldnt get a biopsy based on just one PSA test.
I think a lot of times they put you on a round of antibiotics to make sure you dont have an undetected urinary tract infection, then test again.
How far you are into your 80s? 81 is different than 88 (to me anyway)
I was always told 5 on PSA was the magic number befor you start additional tests. From what you told me I wouldnt do a biopsy yet. Get some antibiotics and do another PSA test. If it still comes back 3 again, I still wouldnt do a biopsy until you get at least a couple tests over 5 if your in your low 80s. Not sure I would get one in my 80s at all unless the PSA was going crazy
If I was 88 I might do another PSA in 6 months just to see, but at that age probably not going to worry about a 3
