wear is hard for us to quantify. A lot depends on ground conditions, sometimes the ground is harder than others.

With the Case IH, we would change shovels 2-3 times per year, during spring planting of around 2200 acres. Some shovels get replaced twice, others just once, depending on where on the cultivator, as others have mentioned.

It seemed like after the first 3-4 days of field work, after that we had to go under there once a day to change a few shovels. We were hoping to run an entire season without changing any,

case ih shovels were $15 i think during winter sales, these are $30, so they need to outlast 2 case ih to pay for themselves

We ran nichols for awhile and hated them (personal preference, i know several on here like them) When changing the Case IH knock ons we used a wire brush to clean the bracket, but never lubed them. We rarely had one come off.
