NW Washington		Since you nicked a fan shaft, you should be OK with taking the earlier advice and welding up the shaft, dressing it up, and putting the bearing back in place.
However, I have seen two tractor bar axles that broke because they were nicked with a cutting torch or because a key was welded in place.
