We currently run knock-on sweeps, but my preference is actually bolt-on. I have never lost a bolt-on and find them easier to change. Grab a 3/8th flex ratchet with a 11/16 socket, hardware, wire brush, oil can and get to work in a "finesse-like" type of way.

For me, it is just a lot more work to install a knock-on when you have the intent to keep them on the machine. You grab a hammer, knock them off, and then spend a good 3 minutes getting all the sliding surfaces free of dirt and rust... oh wait, nobody else takes the time to do that step. Oil them up and then beat the crap out of the tip trying to get them to slide on (for some reason the sweeps we have do not have the hole at the top of the shank). By the end of it all, I am a lot more worn out, dirty, and have a steady ringing in both of my ears. Yes, I could skip all the cleaning and oiling, but then I tire more of losing sweeps.
