If those claims were true, pasture pigs would dominate pork production.
In reality, without a substantial premium, pasture production is not financially competitive vs confinement production.
I don't have any figures of numbers of sows outdoors v number indoor here, but there's huge numbers of sows outdoors. This is mainly down to our less extreme climate and the soil types where they are outdoors.
