Rice County, MN | Just saw the thread about New Zealand and have a couple notes to add since we were just there last fall.
Granddaughter decided to do her student teaching there so during their 2 week break between 10 week segments in September we joined her.
Our son and his wife met us there and we all had a great time. Took in some sights around Auckland and traveled to Raglan on the west coast of the north island where we stayed.
Not much for shoulders once you get off the main roads and they are a bit slow cleaning up wrecked vehicles. Raglan has 2 - 3 meter tides every 6 hours.
Glow-worm cave was really neat as was the Hobbit filming location. Beautiful scenery and they have some very aggressive "hill climbing" cows.
Hamilton Gardens was a treat to see. Can always strike up a conversation with a farmer wherever we go. England, Scotland, Germany or New Zealand.
And I can die happy = I've seen the Southern Cross!!
