I have never grown a single ear of field corn. My brothers have been playing with it for a couple years and doing ok with it. Currently corn looks to pay better than wheat or alfalfa. If nothing changes in the next 4 months, the old 71 planter is going to get a lot of corn seed put through it and I will be "starting a corn farm".

You I staters better watch out. According to UNL I ought to be able to get 30 to 40 BU corn out of 8K seeds per acre on 30-60 skip row corn...
