Subject: ding, ding, PB gets the prize...from my I&T FO-201 shop manual covering 8000-TW30

Paragraph 176, page 56 "Transmission on later 8000 models and all other models is pressure lubricated and an oil cooler is located in front of engine radiator."...."Recommended lubricant is Ford lubricant No. ESN-M2C53-A or M-2053-B..."

"Transmissions on earlier 8000 models are splash lubricated and have an independent oil reservoir within the transmission case." .... "Recommended lubricant is SAE 80-EP gear lube (Ford specification No. M-4864-A or ESN-M2C77-A)"

The shop manual goes on in Paragraph 177, page 57 to the pressure test procedure for the pressure lubed transmissions.

To make a long story short, you hook a 150PSI pressure guage into the oil cooler outlet tube. Trans oil pressure @ 1000 engine RPM @ operating temp on all models (except TW series) should be 20-35 PSI. The TW-x0 series tractors should run 130 PSI.
