Wal mart or amazon, you could get a 40 inch for $250. My experience has been the cheap ones have been more than acceptable, I wouldn't buy one just for a name brand.

Probably could find a good deal on an open box tv at Best Buy in that size. They’re cheap enough at that size regardless of sales of deals though IMO

Got a 20 inch sony Trinitron in 1995, still going. Got a 13 inch B/W Hitachi in 1976 still going. As long as you watch TV Land shows. B/W is good enough.

Brought a Hisense a year ago. NFG right out of the box. Took it back and got a Samsung. Replaced an old Dynex with another Samsung last month. I’m very happy.

TCL Roku seem to be very good tv for cheap price. Remote is very simple. You can get about any size you want.

I would get a TCL with the Roku app built into the tv. They seem to be rated highly for a 4K tv.

5 of 6 tvs that I have are Vizios. This 55" tv that I use for a monitor was bought 4 years ago. The others are 6-10 years old. Knock on wood but NO trouble at all. Of course we still have a 32" Sharp tv that is 16-17 years old that will cook your arm from a foot away.

Throw the tv in dumpster, call the cable company and tell them to cancel your cable and rejoice! I have been home more over the holidays and trying to find something worth watching and it is a challenge

When I cleaned out and sold my parents house this summer... we ended up with both flat screens they had, a 40 some inch thing and 30 some inch thing. They are both sitting off to the side and day to day we still use a 32" tube sylvania in the living room, a 27" Zenith tube downstairs in the family room my late grandfather bought in the late 90's, and a 19" lord knows what tube TV my wife had 20 years ago in college in the kitchen / dining room.

Disney channel looks about the same to the kids...... only downfall is if we feel obligated for some reason once a week to watch the local news station for a weather report because we want a forecast even worse then the guberment puts out on the internet.... our old tube TV's cut off the first and last day since they arn't "wide" formated. So a 7 day is only showing as a 5 day for us.

Nevermind the fact I write this on a dual screen computer......

Just ordered a Samsung. Entertainment center has a pull out swivel and the base is only 30 inches wide, so I needed a pedestal mount. This and a 37.5 inch width restriction really limited my options. Thanks for the replies.
