I thought he had some kind of a mask on, but facing the wrong way! Zooming in a bit revealed it was the hanger hole.

Thanks! I was trying to figure out why the back of his head was weird. I can definitely tell it’s a hanger hole since you mentioned it. I think he does have on mask tho.

I was confused by back of the operator's head also. Then a couple of posts mentioned hanger hole. This puzzled me for a bit until I realized what a "hangar hole" is. It's the hole in the calendar so you can hang it on a nail -Duh!

Argh! My back! oh, wait, it's just a picture... my bad.

Interesting to note that even decades later, my back muscles react to the memory of that medieval torture device.

That was before we had to use that nasty GM seed and just breathed in those fumes. We had an old Hagie sprayer and I remember hitting a hole and breaking an axle, I just rode it down a ways and then jumped off.

No thank YOU!

Ralph, most of the machines depicted on your calendar are stuff I would actually like to run for a few hours. That one, not so much. Thanks for posting it.....and all the others. I sure enjoy reflecting on Ag's progress over the decades.

I have spent countless hours on three different open station high boys like those. Spraying lots of methyl parathion. Then finally bought the John Deere 6000. Though I had died and went to heaven! Now the 4720’s are a dream.

Glad some find this old stuff interesting. Have to admit I've never even seen a sprayer like the one on this calendar page. But then we never had a need for high clearance sprayers here in the 1960s either.

Anyone notice the moon cycles on the lower right? Which causes me to ask....I noticed June had 4 and August had 5. Anyone know which months have the most and which months the least?
