Subject: Excitment at 4:30 AM

central - east central Minnesota -

Woke up and turned on the TV to catch early weather on local news . . . . . . hear a knocking on the door - What the ?  ? ?

Walking out of bedroom and see the rainbow of colors lighting up the dark and think - no Christmas lights on here, crap it's the cops. Glance out the side window and see a woman sitting in a SUV sitting in our parking area and see Deputy at the door. Oh great I think. At least my heart didn't start pumping wildly or have that feeling of someone close was in trouble. Just the local Druggy decided to "hide" out when the local patrol followed her out of the drug house just up the road.  She pulls off he county road and the around the corner of our house in our parking area to hide from the road/deputy. He followed her in calling for back up. The local drug house is kind of a safe haven for the local druggies when they need a warmer place to recover (then their cold car) and of course party down or shoot up or what ever they call it now. The girl needs help, has been in rehab and continues to fall on and off the band wagon, Deputy's know her well and the drug house and most of the occupants. Unfortunately this isn't the first time the druggies have come onto my place to hide out or hang out. Had one on the other end of the farm, on the end of the long driveway, laying in his boxers, with water bottle and magnifying glass, looking for agates. Had another one the canine unit tracked from the drug house to the back of my storage sheds (he was scared to go in the sheds they said, spooks in the sheds).  Had another at 2 in the morning rapping on my door, walked the half mile cross fields in the snow, no coat, and needed help as the druggy guy wanted to have an orgy and he started beating on her, she wasn't into that (called the Sheriff and let them bring her home - didn't want anything to do with that)Well, after 3 squads (one canine unit) and her dad, she finely gets out of the SUV (hour and a half later), has a nice looking dog in there with her (poor thing) and of cause living out of her vehicle. Tow truck shows up and just left now (6:15 am). This all started at 4:30 am . . . . . . .   What a start to a Friday.

Your near Cambridge aren't you? I've heard that area has quite a problem. Seems little falls area does also. It's a shame, was always a big city problem, but the drug industry has really targeted the smaller rural communities the last 10 years.

in Northern Indiana. We have had Amish preachers test positive for meth at the local RV factories. Loook up a documentary called “ Devils Playground”. They shot that documentary in my neighborhood, my home farm is in the background of several of the shots. The girl on the jacket of movie is now my neighbor and lives two doors down from us. She was bay**** crazy when younger which lead to a very awkward conversation with her father. Funny story I will tell sometime. Hopefully, the problems around here don’t hit your community.

The Amish kids drink and do as many drugs as any one around here before they join the church. Some still drink plenty after they join the church.

Living there is definitely no guarantee your neighbors are clean. Drugs are horrible and most anyone is vulnerable. All we can do is keep open communication with our kids and hope the message sticks. All walks of life can have problems.

Fruita CO
Several years ago the Fruita cops came into my driveway after dark, no lights but the canine officer wanted permission to search my barn. They had tried to arrest some gal & she ran, & they thought she might have come in the back side of my place. My back fence is the city limits of Fruita...I told them to go ahead & look, they did & then left.
About a week later, I was pushing the speed limit a little coming out of Fruita, & the lights came on...it was the same guy that had come to my door. I asked him if they ever found the woman they were looking for, & we chatted a little. He let me off with a warning...Yay!

Boston authorities said they seized more than 33 pounds of fentanyl—enough to kill millions of people—in connection with one of Massachusetts’ biggest drug busts ever.

In announcing the results of a six-month wiretap probe called "Operation High Hopes," prosecutors said the synthetic opioid was being sold on the street by a drug gang with links to Mexico’s notorious Sinaloa Cartel, the drug organization once led by Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.

Put up several motion sensor LED lights. I have them all over the farm, inside and out, with cameras too. I also have motion sensors at all property entrances. Every one will ping my phone when set-off. Not as annoying or frequent as one might think. Very few false alarms.

Eh- I used to think that and was always preached that growing up with the D.A.R.E. classes. You’d be surprised how many people you interact with every day smoke pot and have never done any other drug. I can honestly say I’ve never done a drug in my life but know hoards of people who have. Just from knowing people, I’d say pot is no more addictive or stronger than alcohol. Most people can use casually, but there are some, like with alcohol, who go too far. The big problem comes in when the instantly addictive drugs start being used. I’ve always said addiction is a disease but drug use is absolutely a choice. You aren’t addicted before you make the conscious decision to use it. I don’t think you’ll see a big change once marijuana is legalized. I’m neither for it or against it.

What I am for is giving police more latitude to raid the known houses. Especially in small towns. When I was in high school, I had to laugh at getting a speeding ticket for 32 in a 25 because the local police officer and myself both knew he drove past 2 drug houses to pull me over. I always wonder what would happen if those known houses in these small towns just accidentally went up in flames one night. Wouldn’t solve anything, they’d find somewhere else to operate. But it is getting to the point where it feels like residents are going to have to be the ones to join together and drive them back to the cities.

anyone that thinks they are out of the way of drugs because of where they live or who surrounds them are very mislead. It is a very serious problem everywhere. It is more obvious in some places than others but trust me it is near you. If some of you think that pot is the worst thing in your community you are very nieve and very wrong.

there are so many different types of drugs out there now it is sickening.

Agree and alcohol is also a serious problem. Look at how many are addicted to it as well. I’ve worked with guys who can’t go one day without downing several beers. They quit their work days at 4 pm. I don’t know how a business can be successful doing that. You can look at the lines at liquor stores and see that it’s not just social drinking or occasionally enjoying wine with a meal. Many people are in complete denial and get downright defensive when they read or hear about it.

you are 100% on booze also being a problem. You are also right about it being something that is very often denied by many. Im not sure how people think that drinking 10 beers a night is a normal thing. Im not perfect but I try and limit my drinking to Friday and Saturday nights.

10 beers a night( or equivalent) is more normal than one would think.
I wouldn't be surprised of 75% of our population uses drugs at least semi regularly.
If you don't believe that try and hire some help and then tell them you are drug testing. See how many show up and pass.

I agree with the alcohol 100%. I know of several younger guys around here that can't go one day without beer. They have it with them in their vehicles constantly. When the guys my age were younger, we would maybe drink beer in the evenings after we got done. Now it's all day with these guys. I don't know how they do it, but it can't last forever.
