Ford 8000/8600 should be available in your price range. Might find a White 2-85/2-105 and certainly Oliver predecessors. From what I've heard stay away from the Waukesha and go with the 354 Perkins. My dumb question, what's a harrigator?

Thunder Bay, Ontario, Great White North | 1086 or 1066 (or a 986 or 966) Plenty of them in daily use around here, awful cab on the 66s, but if that's all you have and don't know better, you can get along fine. Friend of mine runs two 1066s as his main units on a 60 cow dairy, is afraid if he upgrades one he'll never get his boys out of it to run the remaining 1066. West Central Ohio,Shelby County | Is it the brand name of an implement that has spikes as soil mixers? If you google it,it says it is a spike tooth harrow. Edited by dual wheels 12/26/2008 08:57

Northeast Indiana (Auburn) | Since you have a Harrowgator you know you need to pull them at 8mph with the front bar about in the ground to get it to break up clods and to throw dirt far enough to level the ground. The Harrowgator brand with the transport wheels behind the harrow will pull harder and do a better job than the *wheel harrows" other companys made. I have a 20' that a 100hp tractor will have a hard time keeping the speed up. I had a 1105MF (100hp) then went to a 2705MF (120hp). The 20 extra horses made it work good. I used my JD4440 on it the last time I used it and it played with it. A 1135MF would be a good dependable tractor as well as a 1466IH.

Denhoff,ND right in the center of the State | IH 856 or 1256 would be my choice, have a couple of these tractors and they are very dependable and good starters.Use the 856 daily in the winter on Gehl mixer grinder and starts very well. For as old as these tractors are we sure havnt had to stick very many repairs into them and they still look like new and run very good. The 856 my dad bought new and the 1256 was bought from a neighbor he traded for a 66 series and was diapointed, Talked to him last spring, he couldnt believe we still were running the tractor his dad bought new in 1971, he said they broke most of thier farm land with this tractor and 20 foot chisel plow. We use the 1256 to pull a Meyers 550 bushel manure spreader and for harrowing now days, very good old tractor for those jobs. 856 is around 95-100hp and 1256 about 115-120hp.

North Carolina | I would be looking for a 56, 66 or 86 series IH i agree with the post above tough tractor never had bit of trouble and always does what i ask of them . I don't know a lot about the Green ones I know they are very good tractors i wont argue that , but i haft to farm on a budget the older IH tractors saves me a lot of $$$$ and always does the job . Of course you need to first look at the condition of any tractor they can all be worn out . just my 2 cents worth. DH

West Central, IL | How about a Ih 806! I got one you could buy, but it needs some work. It would be a good tractor for you. Right around 100 hp and it has a nice "ice cream box" cab. Strong diesel engine! Email me if you are interested.

Southeast North Dakota | If I was going to buy a tractor that size in that dollar range it would be a bullet-proof old IH 806 or 856. If the dollar amount was closer to $10,000 I'd look at a IH 986 or something. We've had a few older IH's on our farm and they're good old tractors.

Mid Michigan | I saw this on Ebay the other day. Beautiful 2-105 White. Has 2 days to go on the auction. Is located in Union City PA. Think its a dealer. Said they would deliver for $2.75 a loaded mile. Current bid is around $5500. I would like to have it! One of the better 100 hp tractors for the money anymore. Good luckl. Auction number is 260336807252. That White would look a whole lot better if they would have repainted it as a gray stripe like its supposed to be. They didn't even do a correct job of painting it a red stripe. Bad/incorrect paint jobs is a peeve of mine. I'd rather buy a machine with bad paint and pay for someone to do a good/correct job. Same thing as buying a used vehicle with new crappy tires on it, leave the old ones on it and I'll buy good tires for it.

That's a good looking White. If it is in good mechanical shape and AC works we are still getting $12,000 to $15,000 for the late 2-105 around here if it has the AC Condensor behind the radiator which it should since it has the headlights in the grill. I'm guessing around 1978 by the looks. It's a bargin at $5,500 if it's mechanically sound. That was probably one of the toughest tractors in it's day. Very little transmission or rear end problems. Perkins was very fuel efficient motor. Just make sure you change Over/Under Filter and Oil every 500 or at least once a year made them last.

Mid Michigan | That White ended up being a $7200 dollar No Sale. Didn't meet the reserve. Not sure what the reserve was but I agree they are a very popular tractor in that HP range around here. This looked to be a very fine example too.
