Dean I can one better you on JB Weld fixes.

I have a old style (late 80's) F150 and the transfer case was leaking at the drain hole. I crawled under the pickup and noticed the aluminum housing was cracked where the plug screws in. I drained all the oil overnight then the next day i cleaned the area really good with some carb cleaner. I also roughed up the outside area and put the plug back in. Then lathered the area up well with JB weld, let it cure for a day and put fresh oil back in. I wanted to make sure the plug was in first, just to be safe that it didn't split the crack anymore by screwing it in after the fix.

That was 6 or 7 years and 40,000 miles ago. It is our farm pickup, driving out to pasture, in corn fields, on gravel roads, through snow, you name it. I can't believe that stuff has held so well for so many years.

If I was rich and famous, I would endorse JB weld. Haha. We always have some around the shop

Their Waterweld works good too.
