First you guys that are long the market bash the USDA and say that everything is untrue about their report. Now, Pro Farmer will find the same results and you guys will say there is a conspiracy. When will the time come that you admit MAYBE they are right and that you should not look out your back door and make decisions?

Not everything. Mine is 100 better than last year and 50 better than APH. MN as a whole will be damn close to last years corn number too if you ask me.

Aside from a killing frost, you don't think you can look at your corn today and tell if it's APH or better?

USDA, PF tour, whatever they say I personally won't believe this is a 170 national yield. If this is printed after harvest by the Feds a lawsuit and audit should happen. JMO flame away don't care!!

Jesup, IA
You do realize tour results are posted every night? Just raw data, without adjustment. Comparable from year to year?

And that the tour takes the same routes every year, for consistency.

At the end of now Farm Journal tour (and it has actually been the Midwest Crop Tour for many years), Pro Farmer editorial staff makes an estimate (in August) of what the thinks the final crop yield will be. This involves estimating what growing conditions will be for the rest of the season.

Just keep in mind USDA gets to print the right answer.

But you as a farmer can look at the tour data on AgWeb.com every night and make your own comparison of how each day of the tour did vis a vis prior tours. That seems like useful information to me.

You don't have to pay any attention to the Pro Farmer estimate at the end.

We all know that chip takes has magic pencil into a back room and pencil adjusts it so it's close to usda. I am just looking at the raw data when I say it is 30 below last year. If your in mc cloud county and this year will be 50 to 100 better, you got hailed out and your results don't count. Btw ben your beans look pretty good to me in your photos. I thought your area was bullet proof after your 5 to 8 inch rain in July.

They estimate Ohio at 164.62, USDA is at 171. Last year they estimated Ohio at 148.96 and final yield was 159. Short last year by 10, short this year by 6?? Not too accurate doesn't seem. Whats the point if these numbers are so far off?

You guys are trying to compare USDA July report to Pros August report. You will do anything to tear it apart because you have done a poor job of marketing and want the market to go the other way. Sooner or later you will have to admit the yield is better than your backdoor yield.

USDA's latest report was in August not July, do some checking before you post.

Yes your right they had US at 164.5 right along side usda. Final 153 that year I read an old article from the 2010 tour the other day and chip said there was fantastic corn out there biggest we have ever seen. LOL

talked to someone Friday night that worked with profarmer tour and they said that they looked at satellite imagry and picked where they were going to scout if that isn't influencing the market I don't know what is. Wish I knew where their as--s where going to stop so I knew wether to be long or short on the market. Bet if you watched who was dictating where to stop on the tour and where they placed their money on the markrt short term we could all make money

Sounds like insider trading. Maybe they will be featured on future episode of American Greed. In all seriousness I wonder if this is worth it for Pro Farmer and other sponsors. Seems like they catch more crap every year. Do you think the tour has any real impact on the market?
