I'm guessing corn will lose .15 to .20 more before we find a bottom. Rain on screens and belief of 166+ gonna hold us down for awhile. It's a bear world right now!

I have a 349 December future in mind as the bottom. I think that would start to flush a good number of producers below $3 cash for new crop. Obviously the eastern boys would still be above 3. For me, my attention really starts to perk when I can't get new crop grain with a 3 in front of it. Not in a good way either.

Yep, down .20 more on corn and local cash price will be jus about as low as last year this week. 2.70 ish.
Then people can sell the corn before 1st of Sept and take care of that corn sitn at elevator for those 'price lower contracts'...... oops 'later' Lol

I am ready for this year to be over. I know some people have had an opportunity to market some grain and I am happy for them.
Either there is one hell of a crop out there or people on here are lying about how poor the crop is.
I don't think the market gives a shoot until we chew through the 2 billion bushels that are rat holed away
I didn't farm much in the early 2000's other than a few acres. I would get my ldp and I knew I would get it every year, there was no hope for a price run up. I would just watch my inputs on those few acres and try to scratch a little something out of it. Since 2012 there is more stress in marketing because you think there is always that chance of the big run up. Well nobody said it would be easy lol

Sheesh you'd think a Crop Tour with these prices and some checkered weather to be good for upside volatility at the least, aren't the index funds still rolling?

Aug 18, 2017 AMACD market timer for SPY (S&P500 index) reports:
conditional probability of SPY long = 0.25 ,
conditional probability of SPY short = 0.34 ,
where probability is conditioned on most recent full year of performance.
Conditional probabilities below 0.5 are (very) risky. That's saying that S&P500 index is not a reasonable candidate for long or short investment at this juncture in time.

The problem is there is no hope for higher prices off of these lows until maybe some weather issues next summer. We have 2 billion left over from last year and god forbid we do have this crop the government is talking about we could add another 1 1/2 billion to that next year.
