I know I'm getting really tired of these weekend forecasts predicting 2-3 days with 60-90% chances of potential heavy rainfall only to watch it either change to 20-30% on Monday and end up less than a dust settler. We've have exactly 2 rains of .4 since June 14th. Getting old.... I'll believe it when I see a good soaker.

Here they just fade away when they hit the river.  The good part is I've only had to mow yard once since July 4th - And that was just to get rid of a few straggler weeds coming up in the yard ;)

Nebraska aka the boondocks
For whatever the reason all the storms are developing in Nebraska and hanging around all night, like the moisture can't cross the state line. I will tell you many people have had it with the pounding they have been taking. Even taking the last couple weeks, last night it happpened again.

High wind, hail and 2 inches of hard rain last night. Beans are laying flat this morning. We needed the rain but did not need the rest of it.

Just think of the increase in groundwater levels!

Has to be some good recharge in the sand hills at least.

This Nebraska weather is like playing Russian Roulette. I had been skirting the storms.. last night I got hammered. I just joined the dumpster fire that Custer County is this year.

Sorry to hear. I saw that cloud last night out the bedroom window, thought it may drop down on us. We actually came up to west of merna to stop by in laws and are driving around. The area of damage is so large It is hard to comprehend.

Yeah this is three straight years of substantial hail damage for me. You likely saw the supercell that came out of Loup County. It dropped hail, torrential rain, and had a tornado with it.

Ran right over me

Need to update USDA-NASS statistics on Custer County's #1 commodity... HAIL.

It never moved. It just spun itself out. No steering winds? Skunked again. 0 for August.

Honestly, when you are really dry a forecast for a good chance of heavy rain is the kiss of death! In the past when we have been dry for an extended period it finally broke with a soaking rain that was either not forecasted or was only a 20% to 30% chance.

Seems like a couple years ago they changed the radar to look more impressive. If it's not dark red on radar it's not amounting to much these days.

Nws radar is much better. They don't overdo the sensitivity. We got a much needed inch this morning. Much bigger totals just to our south.

We were experiencing the same thing until about a week ago. Radar showed about 2" and we went actually got nearly 5" on that event. Went from one extreme to the other with 9+ inches in a 10 day window. The first 5-6 soaked in real nice. Some stuff was hurt beyond repair but it certainly helped.
Would gladly ship you anything over the next couple months as we're full now and are re-drowning out some of our early season drown outs that were replanted.

It rained just enough here to 'wet' our appetite for more!

Pun intended. Lol

Maybe a couple tenths. Nice, but need a 1-2 inch soaking rain to do any good.

Its dying before it gets close to the river. Nothing but light sprinkles out of the last two strong systems that came through.
