Subject: N timing in clay soils critical?

SWSD
I am in a relatively dry area (16" ish annual) and pretty heavy clay soils - CEC low 20s. Plan on spraying out UAN 32 this spring for a Milo crop that I hope to plant maybe mid May or so depending on weather and soil temps. Variable rate 10 to about 18 gal/ac.

So, I am thinking of going fairly soon just to get it done and out of the way. Is timing very critical in this situation? What is best?

I do try to get it out in front of a little rain event, but that isn't always easy to predict.
Thx
