Subject: RE: Farming Becoming Riskier Under Climate Change

Central IL
One last thing I would like to share is that there was some research done with comparing corn and soybeans vs. small grains and summer fallow. It showed where corn and soybeans keep recycling moisture through the season by evaporation through the leaves and creates more moisture in the air, and wheat is done growing towards the end of June or July and doesn't evaporate any moisture back into the air. The data suggested that the higher % of fall crops growing in an area could yield higher rain fall.

It does until it doesn't. Back in the 20's reputable agronomists claimed the rain followed the plow as they raised good wheat crops in Oklahoma, western Kansas, and Colorado. Then the dust bowl of the 30's hit and put that theory to bed.

Climate change is real and has been forever. History shows very little if any is man made, but we ignore the weather cycles at our own risk.
