“These are the times that try men's souls.” | Yes you can just use a booster pump, run water supply to suction side of booster using garden hose fittings and plumb a 3/4" hose that can take 300 psi with a spray nozzle of choice. However a couple of warnings I've heard if you have the old black poly water lines you could maybe collapse your supply line if you run short of water. I've never seen it happen but have heard it from a pump guy once. To be on the safe side you could just plumb a water tank to the booster pump so you always had available water for pump. Most all milk barns do this. They take a 55 gallon barrel fill it from the top with a float valve or stick hose in it on the top, drill a overflow hole down a ways from fill point so there is a air break in tank so water from tank can never go back down your water supply line. Then just plumb suction for booster pump in the bottom of the 55 gallon drum. It would also be a good idea to wire a GFI breaker into the cord for the pump. Also remember those booster pumps can't handle a deadhead of pressure long on them without having water running though them, it will burn pump stages up in them if left deadheaded very long as they are just plastic impellers.
That's all I ever used to use to wash equipment and stock trailers out with at milk barn. But now we only use our pressure washer as we can use a lot less water, option of hot water, and more pressure. We can clean something a lot faster than using a booster pump. However using a booster pump is a lot cheaper, easier to winterize, only down side is it uses more water.
Here is a manual for a booster pump it will tell you how to plumb one. http://www.northerntool.com/images/downloads/manuals/109201.pdf
